Significant Milestone
MSLR 6 Wheeler no 946 has been dropped back onto its totally restored frames in what must count as one of the most ambitious wooden frame restorations of recent times.
Tonny Keeble and his team that includes Pat Sumner and Bob Hanson has conducted major structural repairs on the chassis that is now near complete, aided by Clyde, Dave and Mervin the steel reinforced wooden frame is now structurally sound enough for the Carriage body now to be dropped back into position with brake gear and the complex leaf spring buffer system fully re-instated.
Work can commence to the more visual aspects of the carriage, such as doors and fitting out of the interiors. This team has met up every 2nd Sunday since 2003 and the fact that this vehicle is heading towards completion is a credit to the stoicism of those involved. The quality of the work completed is there for all to see.
